Professor Layton and K

As usually I buy games every know and then. This week I ended up buying the remake of Jet Set Radio for XBLA (thats the reference for Professor K). I have it both for the Dreamcast and Xbox from before, but I always wanted an HD-version and a more convenient way to play it. Plus I wanted to support the games I like. So if it’s coming in a hard cover for the PS Vita I’m probably buying it even thought I don’t have a Vita (yet). So, back to the game. For me it wasn’t a good port, the sound was a bit laggy and strange. And after a bit googling I read that there where other that was experiencing the same problem, but sadly no solution. They where guessing it was a hardware problem. Other then that it looked ok, some of the textures was the same, so not the complete makeover it could have been. Guess that would cost Sega to much.

I’ve also got my hands on some Nintendo DS games. Of course the new Pokemon White 2 (not that I have the time to play it), and finally New Super Mario Bros. Which is not really a game I enjoy that much, but I feel that a proper collection should have at least most of the Mario games. And last but not least I’ve finally got not just one, but two Professor Layton games! Last Specter and Unwound Future. Just need to plan some time to play them. I do really like puzzles of the type that are in the Layton series.

Games!

Got some new games today!

Stoked: Big Air Edition (PAL)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Nordic Edition)
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (Classic)
Pokémon HeartGold
Hell’s Kitchen
Echochrome

Not sure why I bought Hell’s Kitchen, but I cost $1 so I thought it would be nice in my collection. All the other games have been on my wishlist, and if I keep up this rate I’ll be done with my game shopping for this year pretty soon. I haven’t told you this yet, but one of my resolutions is to buy less games, or more precisely the games on my wishlist. As I don’t believe I could stop buying games. It will be fun to see if I can keep it. Luckily I’ll have my girlfriend to help me (just need to inform her first).

What have I’ve been playing…

Every summer plenty of developers and stores have sales, so as every summer I end up getting some new games. Even when I’m away for vacation I’ll buy games. This time I needed help from a friend to buy Magicka Complete Pack from Steam. And I’m glad I took the trouble to contact my good friend. Magicka is one of the best games I’ve played this year! If your only getting one game this year, Magicka should probably be it. So obviously I’ve played a lot of Magicka, but I haven’t tried solo play yet. Only with my friend, but it was hilarious. The first hour went to practicing the spells and not killing each other. It’s hard when you can make so much funny spells.

I also got my hands on Infamous 2 (birthday gift), which is a great sequel to  Infamous. The graphic is very nice and polished. The game play is even better and you have new and more moves/action to perform. Sadly no flying mode, but where getting there. Play.com also had a sale so ended up getting Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom. A beautiful game which looks a bit like Shadow of the Colossus. The music is also very nice. It’s not a very long game. I completed it yesterday and it took my around thirteen hours, and I did some collection of chest and such. So I guess a quick run would go for around ten. Still a few hours longer then what Mirror’s Edge take to complete (around seven if I remember correctly).

That’s not all the games I got this summer. I bought Kingdom Hearts 2 (PS2) and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (DS). I thought the DS game was the one who came to the PSP, but that was Birth by Sleep. So guess I need to get that one too. I’ve always wanted to try out the Kingdom Hearts series, as I’ve heard a lot about it. So instead of starting on number two I ended up buying Kingdom Hearts (the first) from Ebay. So wanting for that to arrive in the mail.  I also bought some old Xbox 360 games which where on sale. Pure which I’ve had and played before, Rainbow Six Vegas, Kinect Adventure and Guitar Hero 5. As I don’t own a Kinect myself I had to borrow one from my friend to try out Kinect Adventure. Sadly Kinect doesn’t really work that well in my living room since my couch is to big to be moved (or my room is to small, you can decide).

Rainbow Six Vegas came out in 2006 and the years haven’t been good to it, but the game play works really well. So when I’m done with it I’ll definitely buy the sequel. Pure is still cool and it still lacks the split screen which would make this game extremely fun to play. The same problem as the newer Nail’d. No split-screen really makes a game go from must have to, get when I find it real cheap.

Last but not least I bought Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and Rollercoaster Tycoon from GoodOldGames.com. Haven’t had time to try them out yet, but played both of them before so I know what I get. Rollercoaster Tycon is maybe the best Tycoon game ever made (it’s maybe even beating Transport Tycoon Deluxe).

That’s most of the game I’ve tried and bought the last couple of weeks. It’s nice with a summer vacation. I’m also waiting for Fear 2 coming in the mail. There where a sale on CDon.com and I had a coupon, so I got it for free. Can’t beat that!

Sonic Colors

Guess what I did, I bought Sonic Colors for the DS. It was for sale in a cool collectors edition package, so I just “had” to have it. The only Sonic games I’ve played is Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, which I really like. As Sonic Colors is using the side-scrolling style Sonic got famous for, I didn’t know what to expect. Have only played a few levels, but I’m having problem following what happens on the two screen the DS have. You end up switching between them all the time while you run. It is also extremely fast pace. So I’m having trouble following whats happening on the screen, which leads to me losing a lot of stars. Sucks! We’ll see how long I’ll play it before I switch back to Pokemon Platinum. The graphic is nice and I’ve spotted a Chao! I really like Chao’s.

A red Wii cover

A few days ago a friend of mine told me he was going to be wearing a Mario costume today to promote the new Mario game, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. So I had to visit the store. Sadly when I arrived I wasn’t wearing it because it was to hot and too few kids for him to take the trouble of putting it on. It was in fact zero kids. I was the only one there. There had been some people a bit earlier, but not much. “Anywho”, I of course had to try the game when I was first down there, and it was fun. I’m not much of a Mario fan, but when I could play it with other people it became more interesting. Not that interesting that I’m going to buy a Wii. One of the plus is all the cute outfit you can get by eating different mushrooms, flowers and so on. Sadly there are no way to get super big as you could in the DS version, but you can get small and run on the water. So if you into Mario and have a Wii, I can recommend it. Not for the story mode, but for the fun it is to play with your friend!

Not much happened today. Was at school, found out that I need to learn all the hiragana sign to Monday (can’t even remember the proper name for them, had to wiki it.). So this weekend I’m going to play hiragana games and look at flash cards. Going to be super fun! Other than that I “found” a little ad for my blog at my job the other, “someone” had been writing my blog address on a sketch-up. How cool isn’t that. Took two pictures, I’ve also took a picture of my new refrigerator magnets. A cow and a panda, super cute!

I’ve also got two DS games in the mail today, Lock’s Quest and Dragon Quest: The Chapter of the Chosen. Looking forward to try them out when I have some more time. Also found out that I need to rearrange my collection, and take some new pictures.  I’m also working on “banner’s” for my project page. So look for an update near you. Hehe…
