Wow, think that is the longest title I’ve had on this blog. At least now you should know what this post will be about. I’ve had Spotify for a while now and I’m pretty pleased with it, sadly my speakers on my computer isn’t that good, so I needed to find a way to stream it to my sound system. I tried first a program called JamCast which was super easy, but sadly it costs $30 which I think is a bit much for what I need it for (plus I’ve heard that I could use other programs to do the same for free). So I kept on searching till I found this easy guide on a Norwegian blog over at blogspot.com. So I thought I should post the same guide just in English in case someone was searching for help to find it out. So follow these easy step for streaming of you Spotify. You need of course a PS3, Spotify installed, and PS3 Media Server (also installed);
- First you need to download DSBridge which is the tool that let you stream music between Spotify and PS3Media Server. Inside the DSBridge folder you’ll find the files dsbridge.ini and dsound.dll. These should go into your Spotify installation folder (mine was located here: “C:\Users\<userName>\AppData\Roaming\Spotify”).
- Then you need to get another .dll file from the free Lame encoder. The lame_enc.dll should also go into the Spotify-folder.
- Next step (is maybe the hardest step?) is to edit PS3 Media Server profile which you’ll find in a PMS folder (mine was located here: “C:\ProgramData\PMS”). The file to edit is WEB.conf and you need to add following in it;
There may be some problems with editing the file, and the easiest is just to copy the file to the desktop and edit it there, then copy it back.
- Next you need to do is restart PS3 Media Server and Spotify. The rest is just to start playing songs from Spotify. They will be streamed to the Spotify “radio” under Radios on your PS3.
Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial. You can find all the files you need here: spotify stream
Update: If you have problems finding the Web-folder, check out Herbert Mayer comment:
For everyone for whom the “WEB” folder does not show up in the PS3: As Spooky Squeek already said, you have to copy the WEB.conf into the %PROGRAMDATA%\PMS (for Vista & Win7) or %APPDATA%\PMS (for Win XP) – just copy the path into the explorer and you should be able to find them. Afterwards it should work just fine.
Found the Info on the PSM Forum: http://www.ps3mediaserver.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3507&p=32731#p32731
Update 2: Is “the data type is unsupported”? Kuchen has the solution:
After much trial & error have found the fix to re-enable web audio streams defined in WEB.CONF file:
- Disable VLC [click on plug icon and status of VLC engine will change to red X] under Video Files Engine in the Transcoding Settings Tab
- Save settings
- Stop/Restart PS3MS

The had Killzone 3 Helghast Edition on sale on Gamestop, since it’s so big I just “had” to buy it. Looks good in my home made shelf next to Driver. Tested the game today and it felt like an okey shooter. Didnt quite understand the story, but maybe iill get a grasp about it later. We’ll see.
I also bought some new shoes. They are nice! Finally a pair a shoes with no holes in them.
Since PSN is soon recoverd. Sony is giving away free games to the owners. We can pick two from the PS3 list and two from the PSP list! Woho! I’m going for Infamous and Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty. Was thinking about Wipeout HD/Fury, but I’ll be likely to buy it over Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty. As I already have LittleBigPlanet for PSP I will go for Killzone Liberation and Pursuit Force on the PSP.
Two PS3 games from the following list:
Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
For those with PSP accounts, you will also be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list:
– 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PS Plus subscribers*
– Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will be given 60 days free subscription.
– For existing Music Unlimited subscribers, you will be given 30 days free subscription.
– We are working on a Welcome Back offer in PlayStation Home and will share that when it is confirmed.

Today I got some new games. Been a long time since last time. This time it was Bioshock 2 Rapture Edition for the PS3. I’m probably not going to play it, as I didn’t like the original Bioshock. So this one goes next to my Bioshock Special Edition. I also got Fuel and Dark Sector for my Xbox 360. I haven’t heard much about Dark Sector before I friend of mine said it was a great game last Sunday. So I thought, why not get a great game since it’s on sale? Hopefully I will get some time to try it out this weekend. Fuel was a game I just bought because it was really cheap. I had tried the demo before, and didn’t really like the arcade feeling. When I tried it again today, it was the same feeling. For me, it feels to easy (I know I can change the difficulty). I don’t really have to time my turns and watch out for trees and such coming at me. As long as I don’t hit them straight on. The big open area do seems like fun, but since you can’t do tricks in the air you can’t really use the big jumps you find to something fun. The career isn’t that much fun either, just the same on slightly different tracks. I did get around 100 gamescore for an hour play which is always a plus.
I also downloaded the Nail’d demo today. Looks and play a lot like Pure, but not as fun. It’s to much of an arcade game. Just full throttle all the way, and boost when you have enough nitro. Even though you only can ride ATV’s and MX’s, you can’t trick on the massive jumps. Pure is so much better. Hopefully it will support split-screen which Pure sadly lacks.
As most vacation, and this is not an exception. I end up neglecting my blog. Not because I want to, but I don’t feel like sitting down and writing something. It’s okey to post some pictures and videos now and then, but I use extra time to do it. If you check when I uploaded my pictures to Flickr and when I post it here, there is some hours in between. So that was my little excuse for not posting that much.
Since I’m not posting much, you’ve missed out a bit. As my last serious post was 19th of June about a Munny competition and a little update about me going on vacation and getting some flowers. The major things are that I bought myself a PS3 and finally a PS2, I’ve had a stand at Desucon with my company, and some more vacation. Continue reading Blog vacation
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge is coming as a special edition to XBLA (and iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac, PC, PS3) this summer. Woho! This is one of my favorite game of all time. Check out some pictures over at Kotaku. Not sure if I like the new look, but as long as I can play with the old one, I won’t complain.
